With a summer full of news of NFL lockouts and now an NBA lockout it is refreshing to see a team playing with passion, unity and excitement. Soccer is a world sport that for whatever reason has never really taken a major foothold in the hearts of Americans. Even though millions of youths participate in soccer around the country. This time of year tends to be the dry period for sports fans as the NHL, NBA and NFL seasons are all concluded. If you’re not a baseball fan then it can seem like a long wait till one of your teams resumes play. It’s not surprising that the exploits of the Women’s National team can fly under the radar. Seeing this team play is refreshing in a summer filled with labor disputes and the bad behavior of athletes and coaches.
